Coaches
Maddie Squiers
Maddie is the club director and founder of AVC Nebraska. She is a Kearney, Nebraska native. Squiers stepped into the coaching role at her alma mater, as an assistant for the UNK Volleyball team. She graduated with her Masters in Sports Administration in May 2024. Previously, Squiers was a club director in the Central/Western Nebraska area where she managed over 20 teams. She was awarded the AVCA 30 under 30 club award in 2023 and has provided lessons and coaching to a variety of athletes ranging from beginner to advanced.
Squiers started her collegiate career at Bellevue University where she was a two-time NAIA All-American setter before she joined the UNK Loper squad in 2018. She was part of an MIAA Regular Season Championship, MIAA Tournament Championship, and a part of the 2019 D2 NCAA Runner-Up team. During her collegiate career, Squiers tallied 6,000 assists and was a 2x NCAA Division 2 All-American. Squiers played professionally in Austria and most recently with the Omaha Supernovas. She attended Kearney Catholic High School, where she was a multi-sport athlete. Squiers helped the Stars volleyball squad to 3 straight state championships.
Cari Callan
Coach Callan is beginning her second season as a head coach with AVC. She has coached and reffed volleyball and softball for years. She was a 3 sport athlete in high school and competed at the collegiate level for volleyball and softball. She has been coaching for over 10 years and loves working with athletes to share her love of the game. “I am highly competitive and can not wait to help student-athletes realize their greatest potential!”
Bre Shaffer
Coach Shaffer is currently an assistant coach for the UNK Volleyball team. This is her second season coaching 17s for AVC.
She was a 3 year starting outside hitter for Eastern Oregon University from 2018-2022. She helped EOU earn many titles including elite 8 status nationally while also tallying awards of her own. Shaffer’s junior and senior year earned the achievements of first team all-conference, all-region, and all-American outside hitter. Throughout Shaffer’s duration at EOU she posted 729 kills, 424 digs, 138 blocks, and 24 serving aces.
Shaffer started coaching club at EOVBC in rural Eastern Oregon. She coached at EOVBC for 3 years as the head 16’s coach (2018-2021). She then moved to Kennewick, Washington to continue her club coaching at Shockwave VBC as the 18’s assistant coach helping 10 of her players move on to compete at the collegiate level. (2022-2024) During that time, Shaffer also was the Varsity assistant coach at Kennewick High School. (2023) The year that Shaffer coached at KEHS, the volleyball team achieved their highest honor in the MCC placing 2nd.
Cece Beahm
Cece Beahm is a Hastings, NE native, where she excelled as a three-sport athlete at Hastings Senior High. She went on to play volleyball as an outside hitter for the University of Nebraska at Kearney, earning All-MIAA honors and recognition as an MIAA Scholar Athlete. Cece holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences with a minor in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, RN, through the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Accelerated Nursing Program. Cece currently works as an ICU nurse and resides in Wood River, NE.
With nine years of coaching experience in club, beach, high school, and private lessons, Cece is entering her fourth season as the Varsity Assistant Coach at Kearney High. This is her second season with AVC, where she also leads the Beach Volleyball program during the summer.
Cece’s deep passion for volleyball continues to drive her commitment to helping young athletes grow, compete, and succeed—both on and off the court.
Addison Johnson
Coach Johnson was the head coach for AVC’s 14 Black team in 2025 and was the head coach for one of our 8th grade youth teams for AVC’s Fall Ball league.
She has also been playing volleyball for the past 13 years. She is currently an Outside Hitter for the UNK Lopers, studying Pre-Pharmacy. Addison was a 4-year volleyball varsity letter winner at Columbus High School where she received multiple All-State Honorable Mentions and made All-Conference Teams for Athletics and Academics. Addi amassed 722 kills for the Discoverers over her final two years at Columbus High, averaging 4.5 kills-per-set as a senior in 2023. She was also one of the team’s top passers at 554 digs as an upperclassman. She played Club Volleyball for 5 years at Nebraska Elite on the 1’s Team (competing in the Open Division). She has gained several coaching experiences through working clinics, personal lessons, and assisting youth volleyball teams.
In her free time she enjoys working out, painting, shopping, and hanging out with friends. This is her second season coaching club volleyball with AVC. She coached for our youth Fall Ball season as well.

Payton Schrotberger
Coach Schrotberger is beginning her second season coaching for AVC. She is from Sidney Nebraska where she was a three sport athlete and played club volleyball. She has played volleyball for 8 years until she graduated High School. She participated in the State tournament in every sport she played in High School two out of the four years she attended. She is currently a student at UNK reaching to get her masters in exercise science. She loves hanging out with her family and friends and creating new memories everyday. She has been around sports her whole life either playing or watching. "I am so excited to further my love for this sport by coaching amazing girls with a bright future in this sport. Volleyball has taught me the hard lesson that not everything is handed to you and needs to be worked for."
Brynn Stowell
Coach Stowell has gained coaching experience at KC Power by helping with clinics and camps for younger players. This last summer she was also able to intern with LOVB which was an amazing experience for her as a player and a coach. This is her second season as a head coach with AVC.has been around the sport of volleyball her entire life and has been playing competitively for over ten years. She is currently a sophomore right side hitter for the UNK volleyball team. Brynn was a four year varsity letter winner at Olathe West High School, where she racked up 2 first team all conference honors, 2 all state honors, all while breaking the school career hitting percentage record, and blocks in a season record. Brynn is currently pursuing a degree in Sports Management at UNK. Brynn played 9 seasons of club volleyball for nationally ranked KC Power, and ended her 18s season with a 5th place finish in the National Division.

Rhyan Mock
Coach Mock has been around the sport of volleyball almost her entire life, and has been playing competitively for over ten years. She is currently a sophomore DS/ Libero for the UNK volleyball team. Rhyan attended Blue Valley High School in Stilwell, KS and varsity lettered her senior year where she played right back DS alongside several D1 commits. Rhyan played 6 seasons of club volleyball for PVA and another 3 at Fenix Volleyball, ending her 18s season with PVA at Nationals in the USA division. She gained coaching experience by helping with clinics and camps for younger players here in Kearney. This is also her second season coaching with AVC. In her free time, Rhyan can be found hanging out with friends, shopping, going on drives, and flying planes!

Julia Davenport
Julia Davenport has been playing volleyball since she was in 1st grade. She is a current sophomore on the UNK volleyball team where she is versatile as a setter as well as defensive specialist. Julia is from Omaha, Nebraska where she was a 3 year varsity letter winner at Papillion LaVista High School. She helped the Monarchs appear in the state tournament all 3 years. In her senior season, she helped her team all the way to the 2023 NSAA State Championship match and was the Class A Runner Up. She was heavily involved in her athletics and academics, her senior year was awarded AVCA Best and Brightest Award - 3rd team in the country for academics, was All State Volleyball Honorable Mention as well as All Metro Conferences Honorable Mention. Julia played club at Nebraska Elite Volleyball in the Open division. She gained coaching experience at Elite by helping with clinics and mini sessions for younger players. In her free time she enjoys reading, going on outdoor walks, watching Netflix and hanging out with friends and family. This is her second club season with AVC. She also coached for our youth Fall Ball season as well.

Gareth Luke
Coaching Experience: Year 10
I’m currently an Assistant Coach for the Hastings College Women’s Volleyball team, where I get to work closely with talented athletes and help shape their growth both on and off the court. Alongside this role, I’m also the Head Coach for the 12s and 18s Girls teams at Antelope Volleyball Club in Kearney, Nebraska. With the 12s, I focus on building strong fundamentals and fostering a love for the game, while with the 18s, I guide them through advanced strategies to prepare for college-level competition. Coach Luke is also the head coach for the Men’s Volleyball team at Hastings College.
Before joining AVC, I coached the 17U and 18U boys’ teams at Ottawa Fusion in Canada, where we significantly boosted our Ontario Volleyball Association rankings, even earning a top spot nationally. In 2023, I worked with elite U Sports and NCAA athletes at the Varsity Training Center, designing performance-based training plans to refine their skills. In 2021, I joined the coaching staff at Delaware State University for a memorable season with the Lady Hornets, who went 26-5 and clinched the season championship.

Makayla Foster
Makayla Foster has been playing volleyball since the second grade. She is a current member of the UNK volleyball team! Makayla was a 4 year varsity player at Broomfield High, in her hometown, Thornton, Colorado. She was nominated First Team All Conference. She was also nominated for Honorable Mention for the 5A All State Team. She has coaching experience through her club, Juggernaut, at their Youth Developmental Program. As well as volunteer clinics, and smaller programs throughout her years as a volleyball player. This is also her second year coaching for AVC.
“I have such a high passion for volleyball. Anything and everything about it is fascinating and a lot of fun! While playing at a competitive level for many years, I feel I have a deep understanding of strategy, technique, and training. I inspire to enforce an electric environment where players can flourish, while embracing challenge, overcoming obstacles, and becoming a better physical and mental player over all. My goal as a coach is dedicate my time to teach all I’ve learned to the players and help them be the best they can be.”
Aleena Peterson
Coach Peterson is beginning her second season as a head coach for AVC. Aleena has 15 years of competitive volleyball experience and is a current member of the UNK Volleyball team (DS/Libero). Aleena was the starting Libero at Southwest Baptist University for her first two years of collegiate play (overall 4.5 digs/set and 96% serve receive) prior to committing to play for UNK. Aleena is from Kansas City, MO where she was a 4-year high school Varsity starter, where she played outside of her primary position of Libero as an OH / Setter as a 6-rotation player with 684 kills, 267 aces, 97.5% serve receive and 3.6 digs/set in a non DS role.
Throughout her high school volleyball career, Aleena was honored multiple times as the Player of the Match and in her first year named Varsity Team MVP and was the only non-senior in their district named to the All-District Team. As a sophomore, she was named to First Team All-District and was one of only four sophomores named to the Missouri All State Team, ranked 4th overall in state, hitting .346 and 5th overall in state with 399 digs. Her Junior year, she was recognized as First Team All-District, Varsity Team MVP and for a second year, named to the Missouri All State Team. As a Senior, named for a 4th year to First Team All-District as well as named to the Missouri All State Team and recognized for Exceeding 1000 Career Digs. Aleena played for the Invasion Volleyball Club, as an OH in the earlier years before concentrating on the Libero/DS role.

I have developed a deep understanding of strategy, team dynamics, and performance under pressure. I am excited to combine my competitive experience with a passion for mentorship to develop skilled, confident players ready for the next level of competition, inspiring others to pursue their volleyball dreams, just as I have pursued mine. My goal as a coach is to foster a positive, growth-oriented environment where athletes can thrive both as players and as individuals. I am excited to contribute to the sport I love in this new role!"
Haedyn Hoos
Coach Hoos is beginning her third season as a head coach with AVC. Haedyn has been surrounded by the sport of volleyball ever since she was born. From watching her family compete to starting volleyball herself at the age of 8. She is currently a Sophomore on the University of Nebraska at Kearney volleyball team and studying pre radiology technology. She’s from Grand Island, Nebraska and attended Grand Island Senior High School. During her time there she helped the Islanders reach the Class A state tournament for the first time in ten years and ended her career there with 1,308 kills. Outside of volleyball she was involved in National Honor society and helped coach a YMCA volleyball team in her free time. This is her second club season with AVC. She also coached a team for our youth fall season this last year as well.
She brings a background of competitive club experience from playing at VCN where her team won the 15 open national championship. She’s so excited to have the opportunity to coach club volleyball this year and share her love for the game with others.
Lesley Baumgart
Coach Baumgart is beginning her third season as a head coach for AVC. Lesley grew up in St. Paul, NE where she was a three sport athlete and played club volleyball for many different teams around Nebraska for 8 years. She played volleyball at Hastings College for 2 years and she has coached club volleyball for 4 years. This is her second season with AVC. She recently graduated with her Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology. She enjoys playing sand volleyball, going to UNK football games, reading, exercising, and hanging out with family and friends.

Brooklyn Meyer
Coach Meyer grew up in Campbell, Ne, and graduated from Silver Lake in 2023. Being from a small school she was a three-sport varsity athlete throughout her highschool time. She played volleyball from third grade until she graduated. She is now a junior at UNK, majoring in graphic design. She continues her love for the sport by playing intermural volleyball with her friends. This will be her second season with AVC, with previous experience coaching a club team one year prior.

Rylee Huff
Coach Huff grew up out west in Grant, Nebraska. She attended Perkins County High School, where she was a 3 sport varsity athlete. She also played on their local club volleyball team for four years, and helped with several camps. She graduated from UNK in 2024 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business & Health Care Management. She loves hanging out with family and friends, taking pictures, and going to any type of sporting events. This will be her third year coaching club volleyball. “I am so excited to meet everyone and watch all the progress through out the season!”
Halle Jacobsen
Coach Jacobsen was a Broken Bow graduate where she played volleyball all four years and made it to the state tournament two of those years. She has been coaching for 6 years now and this is her second year with AVC. Playing volleyball and having amazing coaches in school and club made her want to become a coach! Halle recently graduated with a degree in education and currently teaches and coaches at Southern Valley Public schools. She enjoys spending time with friends, family, watching her younger sisters play volleyball, and spending her summers at the lake!

Laney Badgley
Coach Badgley grew up in Oconto, NE and went to school in Callaway. She has played volleyball all throughout high school along with basketball for a couple years. She loved playing club volleyball with her friends and has since loved getting involved in coaching. She is currently an English teacher at Bertrand Community Schools. She teaches 7th-12th Language Arts. Some hobbies of hers include keeping up with the Loper volleyball team, reading, and working out! This is her third year coaching club. She has coached 15s, 17s, and now 14s.

Sydney Wilson
Coach Wilson started her volleyball coaching journey with one year of junior high volleyball in Ogallala, followed by two years in Axtell, and one year coaching club volleyball in Axtell. Each experience has helped her grow as a coach and deepen her love for the game.
Right now, she is the Elementary Resource Teacher for Axtell Community Schools. Coaching has always been one of her favorite roles. “I am so excited to be part of AVC. My favorite part of coaching is getting to see the progress girls make throughout the season and the excitement they feel as their skills improve. Watching that spark turn into a real fire for playing volleyball is the most rewarding part for me.
I’m really looking forward to being part of this program and helping athletes grow both on and off the court!”
Madlyn Diedrichs
Coach Diederichs is from Broken Bow, Nebraska. She is a 2025 graduate of Broken Bow High School. She has been playing club volleyball since 4th grade and was a three-sport athlete in high school, but her true passion has always been volleyball. She is now in her first year at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK), majoring in Pre-Radiology. This will be her second year coaching club volleyball. “I’m extremely excited for the season ahead with AVC! I love being a mentor for young girls helping them have fun, grow as individuals, and develop a love for the game. Most importantly, I can’t wait to watch these athletes grow both on and off the court.”
Curt Bolte
Coach Bolt is currently the Head Coach for the Lawrence Nelson High School Volleyball team. He has been the head coach for 3 years now. He has coached club volleyball for 3 years as well now. “Coaching club ball during the off season is always fun as it's the best time to up your game for the high school season.”
“I am one of the odd out coaches where I didn't go to college to play volleyball or played it in high school. I went to college for football and after college I found this love for Volleyball and understanding of the game via playing, watching videos, and the many games of Nebraska volleyball. The technical side of things is what I enjoy the most about coaching club as we have a group of girls that are all here to learn and improve the game and better their teammates.”

Addison Ellis
Coach Ellis graduated from Broken Bow High School in 2025. She was involved in volleyball, basketball, and track, and also played club volleyball for many years. In addition to playing, she coached for her school's club team, which inspired her to continue coaching. She is currently a freshman at UNK pursuing a career in elementary education and coaching. “I am super excited to be a part of AVC and share my experience and love of the game with young athletes, and help them grow their skills and passion for the game!”
Allie Schumacher
Coach Schumacher grew up in Sterling, Colorado. Volleyball has always been a huge part of her life. In high school, she was a three-sport athlete and played club volleyball, competing at the state volleyball tournament every year. Her junior year, her team won the 3A State Championship, and her senior year, they finished as the 3A State Runner-up. She continued her career as a setter at Northeastern Junior College (NJC), where her team qualified for Nationals both years. While at NJC, she also gained valuable experience coaching for a local club team.
She was fortunate to be surrounded by volleyball from a young age, and it quickly became more than just a sport to her—it shaped Allie into who she is today. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to help run practices and summer camps, which further shaped her love for teaching the game and mentoring athletes.
Currently, she work as a Labor & Delivery Nurse at Kearney Regional. In her free time, she enjoys walking, working out, baking, watching movies, and growing in my faith.

Addison Budke
Coach Budke joins the UNK Lopers as a freshman outside hitter, bringing seven years of volleyball experience and a record-setting career from Beloit, Kansas, where she was a three-sport athlete. She is currently studying Exercise Science.
A four-year varsity letter winner at Beloit High School, Addison was an extraordinary talent who earned multiple academic and athletic honors. Notably, she holds the second-most career kills in Kansas state history with 2,302. Her career stats also include 150 blocks, 931 digs, and 185 aces. Her senior year culminated in her being named the 3A Player of the Year by the Kansas Volleyball Association (KVA). Budke was also named to the KVA All-Academic First Team, the 3A First Team All-State, the 3A All-State Tournament Team, and the NCAA First Team All-League—all four years of her high school career. She played club volleyball for Beloit Volleyball Club, Volley-Tech, and Manhattan Mamba.
Beyond volleyball, Addie was a three-time State Track Qualifier, winning two silvers and one bronze medal in the shot put from her sophomore to senior years. She earned a 5th place medal in javelin her senior year. She was a key contributor to her team's 2025 State Championship. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, shopping, and growing in her faith.

Giving back is very important to me. Making new connections with the younger generation, helping them develop their skills and knowledge of the game, and watching them succeed are just a few reasons I am so excited about coaching!”
Brylee Nelson
Brylee has been around volleyball her whole life, and has been surrounded by coaches. She started playing volleyball in second grade and is a current freshman setter on the UNK volleyball team. Brylee is from Omaha, Nebraska and was a 4 year varsity starter at Millard North. She was also a four time All-State recipient, and led Class A in assists her senior year. Brylee played club for Nebraska Elite, where she also gained coaching experience helping with camps, mini sessions, and coaching a team.

Elliott Lebsack
Coach Lebsack is a Social Studies teacher and coach at Kearney High School. He is now in his second year of teaching and coaching. This is his fifth year coaching volleyball overall, and is excited to continue growing the game in his hometown of Kearney. He graduated from college in Minneapolis, MN, and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Secondary Education at UNK. “I’m passionate about helping athletes and students become the best versions of themselves, on the court and beyond.”
Clara Kunze
Coach Kunze graduated from St. Paul, Nebraska, in 2023, where she participated in volleyball, basketball, and track. She began playing club volleyball in elementary and continued throughout high school, competing with several different teams. Clara is now attending college at UNK, majoring in Exercise Science and is on the Physical Therapy track! Before joining our team, Clara coached a 15's club volleyball team from the St. Paul area. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going on runs, and reading!

Sarah Brott
Coach Brott grew up in Paxton, NE. She has been playing organized volleyball since the third grade, but has been exposed to the sport for much longer through her older sister. Sarah played 4 years of volleyball at Paxton High School where she led her team in blocks. She also played three years of club. She has enjoyed helping with various volleyball camps for girls of all ages. Currently, she is a freshman at UNK studying Pre-Nursing. “I am so excited to be a part of AVC to share the love of the game and help players improve. Volleyball has provided me with so much from life long lessons to life long friends. I hope the same can happen for our players!”
Cordelia Harbison
“Hi! My name is Cordelia Harbison, and I’m honored to coach at AVC this spring! I grew up in Lexington, Nebraska, played college volleyball at UNK, and most recently coached at Kearney Catholic High School. I love to win, but I care just as much about building strong athletes on and off the court. I know the game well, I’m super competitive, and I hope to pass those qualities on and more this upcoming season. I’m currently finishing my undergraduate degree and will graduate in Spring 2026 before attending UNMC School of Medicine in the fall — but until then, I’m fully committed to helping this club compete at the highest level.”
Lizzy Spah
Coach Spah is from Tea, South Dakota where she was a 5 year varsity starter, earning many accolades throughout her high school journey. She is currently a sophomore, rightside hitter, for the University of Nebraska Kearney where she is also studying health sciences on the radiology technology track. Lizzy has spent many years around volleyball, putting countless hours on the court and spending many hours with knowledgeable and experienced coaches who have taught her everything she knows! She has experience coaching volleyball through her club “Sanford Sports Academy” located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota -right outside of her hometown- in which she played for over a 7 year span.
“I look back to my years playing club volleyball, and they were some of the best years of my life! I met some of my best friends and met some coaches that I still communicate and lean on to this day. I am looking forward to giving that experience to other younger volleyball players, and help them gain confidence in their skills and dominate on the court! AVC is such a great community to be apart of and I can’t wait to meet all of you!”
Anna Laincz
Coach Laincz has been passionate about volleyball since the age of nine and has grown up with sport as a constant part of her life. She is currently a sophomore defensive specialist and outside hitter for UNK. She’s majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in psychology. Anna was a four-year varsity athlete at Lansing High School, where she played a key role in the team’s success. She helped lead her team to a state runner-up finish her freshmen year and a state championship title her sophomore year. She was named All-Conference her junior and senior year, earned All-State honors her junior year, and surpassed 1,000 kills during her high school career. She also served as team captain during both her junior and senior seasons, demonstrating her leadership on and off the court. At the club level, Anna competed for KC Power for five years. Through KC Power, she gained coaching experience from working summer camps and clinics for younger players. On top of her volleyball life, Anna enjoys crafting, spending time with family and friends, and being outdoors.

Bradie Medina
Coach Medina is beginning her second season as a head coach for AVC. She is from Holdrege, NE. After graduating in 2023, she competed in both volleyball and track at Cloud County Community College and graduated with an Associates degree in Business. She is now at UNK and on the Track team. She gives lessons through AVC and has years of experience coaching youth and junior high. She loves sharing her knowledge and passion of the sport!
McKinley Ritner
Coach Ritner has years of coaching experience from different age groups. She coached a youth 5th/6th grade team in a league that placed 2nd at the end of the season. She also coached a high school club team in Central Nebraska that had a successful season placing 2nd at two tournaments and 1st in another. She played club volleyball starting at 10 years old all through high school. She is currently a senior at UNK studying Elementary Education. She is excited to bring her volleyball background to AVC.
